Panel Discussion: Kosovo - The rocky road to state building: bringing Kosovo closer to Europe
Friday, 17th December 2010
Time: 10:30 – 12:30
(registration from 10.00)
Venue: EU Information and Cultural Centre in Kosovo, Prishtina
The European Fund for the Balkans (EFB) in cooperation with Gallup Europe and in partnership with the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) is delighted to invite you to a public discussion
Following the European Commission’s evaluations of progress of the Western Balkans towards European integration, the new Gallup Balkan Monitor (2010) on public opinion in the region offers insights into citizens’ views of the EU. In order to present and widely acknowledge the results of the Gallup Balkan Monitor, the European Fund for the Balkans in cooperation with Gallup Europe initiated a series of Gallup Balkan Monitor presentations and public discussions in the capitals of Western Balkan countries on the future of the Balkans, its European aspirations and the potential of “attitude change” and Europeanisation of the societies in the region.
The event in Prishtina will focus on Kosovar respondents’ attitudes and perceptions. The Gallup Balkan Monitor investigates public opinion on a broader range of issues, from the satisfaction with life standard and living conditions of citizens, trust in the political parties, courts, NGOs and media, fight against corruption and organized crime and expectations and attitudes towards EU integration and NATO.
These findings will be discussed by a panel including Ylli Hoxha from Foregin Policy Club, Engjëllushe Morina from IKS, Momcilo Arlov from CCSD, Ilir Ibrahimi from AUK, Krenar Gashi from KIPRED, Ramadan Ilazi from FOL Movement and Robert Manchin from Gallup Brussels. The discussion will be moderated by Adriatik Kelmendi from daily KTV and Koha Ditore, Prishtina.
We very much hope that you will be able to attend. Please confirm your participation by replying to the e-mail address fatmir.curri@kcsfoundation.org by C.O.B. Wednesday, 15th of December, 2010.
