Panel discussion:
Friday, 26 November 2010, 17.00–19.00
at the EU Information Centre, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia, Trg žrtava fašizma 6, Zagreb
Academy for Political Development in cooperation with The European Fund for the Balkans is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion "Croatia and the region: Heading in the right direction?"
Following the European Commission’s evaluations of progress of the Western Balkans towards European integration, the new Gallup Balkan Monitor on public opinion in the region offers insight into citizens’ views of the EU. In order to present and widely acknowledge the results of the Gallup Balkan Monitor, the European Fund for the Balkans in cooperation with Gallup Europe initiated a series of Gallup Balkan Monitor presentations and public discussions in the capitals of SE European countries on the future of the Balkans, its European aspirations and the potential of “attitude change” and europeanisation of the societies in the region.
Panel discussion “Croatia and the region: heading in the right direction?” will focus on Croatian respondents’ attitudes and perceptions. The Gallup Balkan Monitor investigates public opinion on a broader range of issues, from attitudes towards EU integration, satisfaction with life standard and living conditions of citizens to the desire to emigrate and expectations from the government.
The findings will be presented by Andrzej Pyrka, researcher, Gallup Europe, and the panellists: Hedvig Morvai Horvat, Executive Director, European Fund for the Balkans, Romana Vlahutin, Deputy Advisor for Foreign Affairs to the President of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, State Secretary for European Integration t the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and Tvrtko Jakovina, Proffesor, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. Panel will be moderated by Ivana Dragicevic Velickovic, journalist of HRT (to be confirmed).
We very much hope that you will be able to attend. Please confirm your participation by replying to the email address: boza@politicka-akademija.org by Thursday, 25 November 2010.
